I'm using NixOS for about 2 years now and I can confidently say that I still understand fuck all about Nix as a language.
I'm happy it works, but I couldn't for the love of god build something myself, or even get started with Flakes yet.

I suppose the hardest part is that there seems to be no idiomatic way of doing things. Whatever problem I'm trying to solve – the solutions I can find on different forums all seem to differ in substantial ways, so I cannot just mix and match stuff I find around the internet, which is kind-of frustrating.
